Foxes Fernandes deal close

Leicester are set to complete the signing of midfielder Gelson Fernandes from St Etienne.

The Switzerland international is expected to seal a season-long loan switch to the King Power Stadium, where he will be reunited with manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Eriksson confirmed: "It is not official yet, but it will happen very soon."

Fernandes joined Eriksson's Manchester City side from Swiss club FC Sion in 2007 but fell out of favour following the Swede's departure and the subsequent appointment of Mark Hughes.

He was sold to French side St Etienne in a deal worth a reported £2million.

The 24-year-old - who has made 33 appearances for the Swiss national side, notably scoring in their 1-0 World Cup victory over eventual champions Spain in 2010 - will become the 10th new arrival at Leicester this summer.
