Tottenham midfielder Wilson Palacios has emerged as a surprise summer transfer target for Stoke City according to the Daily Mirror.
The 27-year-old Honduran international is one of a number of names on Potters boss Tony Pulis' shopping list, as he looks to add to his squad ahead of the new campaign.
"We are threadbare at the moment," he confirmed. "Fingers crossed we can bring one or two players in over the next few days."
Palacios joined Tottenham in January 2009 for £12million from Wigan Athletic, but has fallen down the pecking order at White Hart Lane since the arrival and emergence of Sandro.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is keen to keep the majority of his squad together going into 2011-12, but may consider the sale of Palacios in order to generate some cash to delve into the transfer market himself.
Redknapp has so far been uncharacteristically quiet in the transfer window this summer, having recruited two promising youngsters Cristian Ceballos (Barcelona, free) and Souleymane Coulibaly (AC Siena, undisclosed) with the only high profile arrival at Tottenham coming in the form of Brad Friedel who joins from Aston Villa on a free transfer.
