Derby manager Nigel Clough believes Kevin Kilbane's experience and versatility will prove invaluable to the club.

The 34-year-old has moved to Pride Park from Championship rivals Hull on a six-month loan deal.

"He is an international footballer, so first and foremost it is exciting for us to attract another player of that ilk to Derby County," Clough told the club's official website.

"Kevin brings with him a wealth of experience, as well as the ability to play in a variety of positions.

"We believe he will be a welcome addition to our squad and given the type of character and player he is, we have no doubt he will do a good job for us."

Republic of Ireland international Kilbane has made almost 600 senior appearances during his career, representing Preston, West Brom, Sunderland, Everton and Wigan.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Huddersfield and helped the Terriers to reach the League One play-off final at Old Trafford, where they lost to Peterborough.
