Kevin Kilbane intends to use his loan spell at Derby to prove he still has plenty to offer.
The 34-year-old Republic of Ireland international has joined the Rams until January from Championship rivals Hull.
"Basically, I am coming in and trying to prove myself here. This is an opportunity for me to show I still have plenty to offer," Kilbane told the club's official website. "Of course I know I have got more years behind me than I have in front of me. I am 34 but I still feel very fit and I feel I have got more time ahead of me."
He added: "I want to prove that and hopefully I can show that to the manager and his staff, and to the Derby supporters as well. I will be judged on performances and that is how any player gets judged."
With almost 600 senior appearances under his belt and 110 caps for the Republic, Kilbane hopes his experience can help Derby.
He added: "You do hear a lot of managers saying that but it does work both ways - experienced players can be invigorated by the younger players. They can bring the best out in you so I am hoping my experience can help and that I can take little bits off the other players around me."
