Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has heaped praise on Jake Livermore after the youngster shone in the victory over Brighton.
The 21-year-old has played for five different clubs whilst on loan from Spurs, making only one senior league appearance for his parent club after signing as a professional in 2008.
However, the central midfielder has been impressive for the north Londoners during pre-season, and after starting alongside Jermaine Jenas at the Amex Stadium on Saturday scored the winner in a 3-2 victory.
“Jake is a lad with great attitude, wants to be a player, works hard, is a smashing boy and we hope he has a chance,” Redknapp told the official Spurs website.
“When I came here people had written him off a bit but I liked him from day one and it would be great if he could make it here at Tottenham.”
Livermore is one of a handful of youngsters on the Spurs books hoping to break into the senior fold this term, with winger Danny Rose on the fringes after an impressive loan spell at Bristol City, and highly-rated Harry Kane climbing through the club's ranks.
Kyle Naughton is another England youth international with a bright future, and Redknapp will be able to track the player's progress in the Barclays Premier League after the 22-year-old signed a season-long loan deal with Norwich City last month.
