Barnsley have signed former Bolton winger Ricardo Vaz Te, subject to paperwork and international clearance.

The 24-year-old Portuguese, who has impressed Tykes manager Keith Hill while on trial during pre-season, has signed a one-year contract and is the club's eighth summer signing.

Hill, installed as Mark Robins' successor in June, said: "He's got unfinished business in the English leagues."

He added: "On his day he can be a matchwinner. He could be one of those players who takes up this opportunity and lights up the division, quite easily."

Vaz Te, who started out in his homeland with Farense, joined Bolton on a free transfer in 2003 and spent the next seven years there, making a total of 78 appearances, before his release in the summer of 2010.

He was with Hibernian for the second half of last season after signing a short-term deal in January.
