Spurs 'open talks' with £17.5m Spanish super striker

Tottenham Hotspur will open talks with Athletic Bilbao over a move for Fernando Llorente when the club visits England for a pre-season friendly this weekend, according to the Metro.

It's as yet unknown whether the Spanish side are willing to part with their star man, but reports suggests manager Harry Redknapp is ready to discuss a possible deal for the forward.

With Peter Crouch expected to leave this summer, and with Mirko Vucinic already having joined Juventus, Llorente appears to be Tottenham's last option to add to their attack.

Llorente is reportedly worth in excess of £17 million, and with the club reportedly needed to sell before they can purchase new faces, the sale of Luka Modric may need to go through before the Tottenham can think about landing the Bilbao forward.

A deal may be clinched depending on Llorente's impact against Spurs in this weekend's pre-season fixture at White Hart Lane.

Llorente scored 19 goals in 38 games last season, and return that better all of Tottenham's strikers put together.
