Welbeck's chance

Published Add your comment

Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck leapt above Jermain Defoe and Darren Bent in the England pecking order when he was named in Fabio Capello's squad for Wednesday's friendly with Holland.

The 20-year-old made his debut in the March friendly with Ghana and has long been tipped for a big future by Sir Alex Ferguson.

Nevertheless, it is a surprise Welbeck should be in a four-man strikeforce, but not Defoe or Bent, who both featured in weekend friendlies for Tottenham and Aston Villa respectively.
