Arsenal winger Carlos Vela could be the subject of an approach from Lorient, it has been claimed.
According to France Football, the Ligue 1 outfit are interested in securing a six-month loan arrangement for Vela, who spent a portion of last season with West Brom.
The Mexico international made eight appearances for the Baggies during the second half of last term - scoring two goals - but has now returned to Arsenal for the imminent campaign.
It is, however, unlikely that Vela will find himself a regular starter for Arsenal, so another loan switch could be an option to suit the Gunners and Lorient.
The two clubs retain a healthy relationship, with Gilles Sunu and Francis Coquelin both having been loaned by Arsenal to the Brittany side in the past, while Laurent Koscielny left the Stade du Moustoir for the Emirates Stadium last summer.
This is likely to work in Lorient's favour should they make an official proposal to Arsenal, while Arsene Wenger is keen to provide the 22-year-old with the opportunity to further his football education.
