Liverpool and Arsenal have sent scouts to watch Bolton defender Gary Cahill, with both clubs considering bidding for the defender, according to the Daily Mail.
Cahill has been a star for Bolton since the 25-year-old signed to the club in 2008, and has been on the radar of many top English clubs this summer.
Arsenal in particular were favoured to land Cahill, but Liverpool are reportedly making plans to bid for the star, part of the Bolton squad who were defeated by Levante in a friendly 1-0 last Friday.
Liverpool and Arsenal both reportedly had scouts at the match, and Liverpool have put Cahill alongside Birmingham defender Scott Dann as a possible target to chase before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
Arsenal shouldn’t be counted out of the race for Cahill though, with the London club able to offer Champions League football; a feat which Liverpool cannot.
