Everton and Aston Villa are reportedly leading the race or Real Madrid winger Pedro Leon.
According to talkSPORT, the Barclays Premier League duo were handed a boost in their respective pursuits of the 24-year-old after he rejected the opportunity to join Getafe.
Both Everton and Villa have been consistently linked with the 24-year-old over the past few months as David Moyes and Alex McLeish look to reinforce their forward ranks.
McLeish has already completed the signing of Wigan wideman Charles N'Zogbia this summer but is alleged to still be keen to further compensate for the losses of Ashley Young and Stewart Downing.
Everton, meanwhile, are on the lookout for more potent attacking options although, as ever, Moyes is restricted by the tight budget at Goodison Park.
Whether or not Everton and Villa decided to formalise their interest in Leon remains to be seen, with the Spaniard set to sit down with Real bosses to discuss his long-term future.
