AS Roma have emerged as the strong favourites to complete a deal for Moussa Sissoko after the Serie A outfit leapfrogged Liverpool in their pursuit of the French midfielder reports talkSPORT.
The 21-year-old has commanded plenty of interest over the summer after a series of scintillating performances for Toulouse in Ligue 1 last season.
Reds boss Kenny Dalglish has long been linked with a move for Sissoko, but having made a number of midfield additions at Anfield already in the transfer window, it is unclear whether Liverpool still hold an interest in the player.
Rated as one of the brightest young talents in Europe, Sissoko had been earmarked as another potential signing to help the club challenge for major silverware again next season, but has also been chased by Juventus and Napoli.
However, reports now emanating in Italy suggest that Roma are in pole position to sign him after Toulouse opened negotiations with the club over a proposed transfer, leaving Liverpool needing to make a quick decision on whether or not to renew interest of their own.
