Newcastle left-back Jose Enrique will receive £65,000 a week in wages as part of a £6 million deal to join Liverpool, according to the Daily Mirror.

Enrique solves a long-standing issue with the left-back position at Merseyside, and a deal between player and club has taken months to finally come to conclusion.

Enrique has said all summer that he wanted to stay in England, and favoured a move away from Newcastle, and on Thursday the Spaniard was given permission to speak to Liverpool.

Enrique will be Liverpool’s fifth signing of the summer, with the club taking a new form under Kenny Dalglish.

And as part of Enrique’s deal with Liverpool, the former Toon man will be given a £65,000 weekly wage, which will quickly make up for the star’s recent Twitter outburst, for which he received a £100,000 fine from Newcastle over.
