Rochdale manager Steve Eyre is expected to name the same starting line-up for his side's opening home game against Huddersfield.

Eyre has no new injury or suspension problems and has hinted at rewarding the 11 who started in the midweek Carling Cup win over Chesterfield.

Summer signing Ashley Grimes clinched Dale a 3-2 win in extra-time against the newly-promoted Spireites as Eyre made only one substitution throughout the 120 minutes, with Joe Thompson replacing Jason Kennedy in midfield.

Dale's summer signings, goalkeeper David Lucas, defenders Stephen Darby and Neal Trotman and midfielder Grimes, who scored twice on Tuesday night, should all retain their places while Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro will start up front following the sale of Chris O'Grady to Sheffield Wednesday.

Huddersfield striker Jordan Rhodes will return to contention.

Rhodes, the Terriers' leading goalscorer last season, missed the midweek Carling Cup win at Port Vale as he was on international duty for Scotland Under-21s.

Manager Lee Clark must decide whether to recall Rhodes to his starting line-up as fellow forward Lee Novak struck a double on Tuesday night.

Clark will be without summer signing Anton Robinson again. The midfielder sustained a hamstring injury during his debut against Bury last week and missed the Carling Cup clash.

Fellow midfielder Damien Johnson came through a behind-closed-doors friendly this week in his first 90 minutes since damaging cruciate knee ligaments in December last year, but is not ready to return.

Goalkeeper Alex Smithies remains sidelined following knee surgery, so Ian Bennett will continue in goal, but otherwise Clark has a full-strength squad to choose from.
