Hannah to the rescue for Bantams: Match Review

Second-half substitute Ross Hannah snatched a point for Bradford as they came back to draw 1-1 at Oxford.

The striker had only been on the pitch four minutes when he ghosted in to prod the ball home from five yards after Nialle Rodney's flick-on.

A point was no more than City deserved after a strong fightback in the second half as they pressed hard for an equaliser.

Midfielder Simon Heslop fired Oxford into the lead with an outstanding goal after 28 minutes. He drove forward 30 yards and then, with City's defenders backing off, unleashed a low 25-yard shot past keeper Martin Hansen and into the bottom corner.

Bradford twice went close to netting from free-kicks before the break.

Michael Flynn forced a good save from Ryan Clarke with a fierce shot, then 10 minutes later Robbie Threlfall's curling left-footed effort landed on the roof of the net.

After Heslop had broken the deadlock for the U's, his Oxford team-mates kept trying their luck with efforts from distance, Asa Hall going close on one occasion.

But City dominated much of the second half without being able to finish off their chances.

Centre-half Luke Oliver planted a free header wide at a corner and Flynn's glancing header forced Clarke to save at his near post.

The result leaves both sides still looking for their first win of the season, but Peter Jackson's Bradford will go away much the happier.
