Tranmere Rovers Vs Sheffield United: Match Preview
Tranmere boss Les Parry will be without defensive duo Adam McGurk and David Raven for the home clash with high-flying Sheffield United.
Both players were sent off during Tuesday's last-gasp 3-2 defeat at Notts County and now serve suspensions.
Michael Kay is set to deputise for Raven and Zoumana Bakayogo should take McGurk's place in the side.
Veteran defender Ian Goodison was forced off at Meadow Lane after suffering a bang to the head but is hoping to be passed fit for the visit of Danny Wilson's men.
Parry said: "He's got a really big cut right in the middle of his forehead. We could have done without that in the circumstances.
"So we're not going to take a chance with that, we'll let it heal a bit more and he'll have to have it padded to play the game."
Sheffield United midfielder Kevin McDonald is a major doubt for the game due to an ankle injury.
McDonald, a free signing from Burnley earlier this month, hurt his ankle in the midweek win over Walsall and is waiting to learn the full extent of the injury.
Manager Danny Wilson has plenty of options should McDonald miss out, with Lee Williamson and Michael Doyle both vying for a place in midfield after stepping off the substitutes' bench on Tuesday night to help turn the game in the Blades' favour.
Summer signing from Falkirk Ryan Flynn is hoping to give Wilson another midfield option after recovering from a hamstring strain, while striker Chris Porter has returned to full fitness following a dead-leg.
Both players sustained their respective injuries during their debuts at Oldham on the opening day of the season.
