Sir Alex Ferguson is already making plans for the next transfer window, with the Manchester United manager planning a bid for Japanese sensation Shinji Kagawa, according to Italian news source Calciomercato.com.

Kagawa, who currently plays for Borussia Dortmund, has been linked with numerous clubs around Europe after his performances over the last season.

And while Manchester United would have the budget to cover purchasing the midfielder, Ferguson wants to wait and watch the Japan international over the start of the season before making an immediate decision on whether to make the purchase.

Ferguson has always been known for his ability to plan ahead, and the United manager is said to feel that forward planning is needed so that the club can steel the march on their rivals like they did this summer with stars such as Phil Jones and Ashley Young.

Borussia Dortmund are also reluctant to let go of their star playmaker, and United are attempting to find a deal that will be beneficial to both clubs.
