Tottenham target Emmanuel Adebayor has insisted that Spurs sign Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra before he makes a move to the London club, according to the Daily Mirror.
Adebayor is set to exit Manchester City this summer, though today Roberto Mancini insisted that the striker will not go for a cheap deal, despite City hoping to cut their wage bill.
Tottenham emerged last week as front runners to land Adebayor, particularly after Harry Redknapp admitted he was hoping to work out a deal with the 27-year-old.
But with Luka Modric’s future looking uncertain at Spurs, Adebayor wants the club to show that they are aiming to get back into the Champions League next season, and feels that signing Diarra would show this intention.
Redknapp is known for waiting until the last minute in the transfer window to bring players to Tottenham, and the manager is no doubt waiting until the right time to make a bid for Diarra, but Adebayor is reportedly insisting that the matter is taken care of soon.
Diarra and Adebayor played together at Real Madrid, and the duo would be a good coup for Redknapp, who is hoping to take Spurs to a fourth place finish.
