Chelsea fancy £25m South American wing-back to join Mata - reports

Chelsea have made a bid for Porto full-back Alvaro Pereira, according to skysports.com.

Andre Villas-Boas is keen to be reunited with the Uruguayan, who served under him during this trophy laden spell in Portugal.

And Chelsea have reportedly made a move for the full-back, offering a fee that is reported to be close to the player's £25m release clause.

 

Chelsea have failed to properly fill their right-back slot, with Paulo Ferreira and Jose Bosingwa having failed to stamp their authority on the position.

Following the completion of the deal for Juan Mata, Chelsea will top the Premier League high spenders list if a deal for Pereira.
