Leeds United face competition from Sydney FC in the race to sign Mikael Forssell.

The Finnish international striker, who spent a decade in England with Chelsea and Birmingham City, has enjoyed a trial period with the Whites after his release from Bundesliga outfit Hannover 96.

However, Leeds United now face competition from Australian A-League side Sydney FC, who are keen to take the player Down Under in an effort to reclaim the title they won back in 2009/10.

Simon Grayson is keen to add firepower to his Elland Road ranks after a shaky start to Leeds' Npower Championship campaign, although the weekend point at West Ham United is likely to serve as a confidence booster for the Yorkshire side.


TalkSPORT claims the 76-cap international does have offers on the table from other clubs, but his desire to play in England once again puts Leeds United in a strong position to complete the capture.

His addition would add competition to the likes of Luciano Becchio, currently sidelined through injury, Billy Paynter, David Somma, Ross McCormack and Rpbert Snodgrass.
