Sao Paulo have announced that Brazilian midfielder Casemiro has re-signed with the club, in a blow for both Manchester United and Inter Milan.
The 19-year-old has starred for the Brazilian side since moving through the youth ranks, and has attracted attention from numerous Italian, Spanish and English clubs as a result.
Casemiro’s agent confirmed at the start of the month that there was interest from United, along with Real Madrid and PSG.
“Inter were the original favourites, but there is talk of offers of around €18 million, a value that the Italians can not reach," Jose Alberti told Calciomercatoweb recently.
"There is also interest from other teams like Manchester United, Real Madrid and PSG."
Inter Milan were said to have stepped up their interest in Casemiro, with United hoping to land Wesley Sneijder before the transfer window closed.
But with a deal for Sneijder falling through, United had stepped up their interest in the youngster, and news of a new deal at Sao Paulo tying the starlet to the club until 2016 will no doubt come as a blow to the English club.
