Cummings commits to Royals

Shaun Cummings has penned a new contract with Reading, extending his stay at the Madejski Stadium until June 2013.

The 22-year-old right-back had only one year left on his previous deal but he signed a 12-month contract extension to secure his immediate future.

Cummings told the Royals' official website: "I have worked hard to get where I am at this club, so obviously signing a new contract with Reading is very good news."

He added: "I want to show everyone what I can do out on the pitch, so this is a good stepping stone towards proving what I am capable of."

Boss Brian McDermott added: "It is a reward for his mentality.

"He's done very, very well, he will keep working hard and I'm sure he will be a big player for us."
