Chesterfield have agreed a deal to sign Middlesbrough defender Jonathan Grounds on loan.

The 23-year-old is expected to link up with the current League Two champions ahead of their trip to Exeter on Saturday.

Grounds, a product of the Boro youth system, will remain at the B2net Stadium for one month.

Grounds signed a professional contract with Middlesbrough in July 2007 and has made 37 first team appearances.

He has had previous loan spells with Norwich and Hibernian.
