Mahon joins Magpies

Notts County have signed midfielder Gavin Mahon on a pay-as-you play deal until January.

The 34-year-old began his career at Wolves and has also played for Hereford, Brentford, Watford and QPR.

He was released by Neil Warnock's Premier League newcomers at the end of last season.

The Magpies are also hoping to sign an unnamed striker in time for Saturday's League One game at Preston.
