Dagenham winger Medy Elito faces a race against time to be fit for the visit of Torquay.

Elito injured his groin in training this week and will be receiving treatment for as long as required before undergoing a fitness test ahead of the encounter.

Fellow wide man Damian Scannell suffered a recurrence of his groin problems having been introduced as a 72nd-minute substitute in last weekend's 1-0 victory at Bradford and is seeing a specialist in a bid to resolve the matter, meaning he will be unavailable.

Manager John Still was already battling a host of injury problems. Striker Josh Scott has discovered he needs knee cartilage surgery and will be out for around six weeks.

Long-term absentees Rob Edmans (fractured leg), Kevin Maher (metatarsal) and Peter Gain (hernia) continue to step up their rehabilitation, while Billy Bingham (knee) is back in training but this weekend comes too soon for him.

However, the Daggers were boosted at Valley Parade by the earlier than expected returns of full-back Abu Ogogo and striker Sam Williams (both groin), with the pair again expected to be involved against the Gulls.

Billy Bodin will go straight into the Torquay squad for the trip following his loan move from Swindon.

The 19-year-old forward has already started in three of the Robins' games this year and will be expected to go straight into Martin Ling's starting XI.

Ling may also be able to call upon the services of Daniel Leadbitter for the first time after he joined from Newcastle in the summer.

The defender has been hampered by a hamstring injury but has returned to training.

Gulls assistant boss Shaun Taylor told the BBC: "It's a little bit early to say if he'll be involved in the Saturday game but we'll see how it goes."

Torquay have no other fresh injury concerns.
