Wolves hold on in Villa stalemate

Published Add your comment

Wolves survived a second-half battering to return to the top of the Barclays Premier League - albeit temporarily - after a hard-fought goalless draw in the local derby at Villa Park.

Mick McCarthy's side have now taken seven points from their opening three games although they were second best during the second 45 minutes.

Villa dominated territorially during that period with Gabriel Agbonlahor causing plenty of problems with his pace, while Charles N'Zogbia also posed a threat.
