Everton are being linked with a deadline day move for Royston Drenthe.
Spanish-based journalist Graham Hunter told talkSPORT the Toffees were taking a close look at the Dutch international, who has found first team opportunities at Real Madrid hard to come by and spent last season on loan at Hercules.
The versatile 24-year-old, who can play in both midfield and defence, has previously been linked with a move to England, but Everton appear to be the only Barclays Premier League club showing an interest at the current time.
With the Toffees' well publicised financial problems, David Moyes is yet to make a permanent signing at Goodison Park before deadline day.
The club are closing on Argentine striker Denis Stracqualursi though, with the 23-year-old set to join Everton on a season-long loan deal.
After scoring 22 goals in 35 games for Tigre last season, the player has been linked with a handful of clubs across Europe, but Everton appear to have won the race for the player after Stracqualursi met his new team-mates on Wednesday morning, according to the Daily Mail.
