Aston Villa have made an enquiry for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas, according to skysports.com.
The former England international has seen his opportunities limited in recent seasons at White Hart Lane.
And with Joe Cole having turned down a move to Villa, in favour of moving to Lille, Alex McLeish is ready to turn his attention to the 28-year-old Tottenham man.
Villa have had to endure the loss of Ashley Young and Stewart Downing this summer and will look to Jenas to lead a new era under McLeish.
Spurs are reportedly eager to free up their wage bill for some new recruits, and Villa’s deal for Jenas, which could be a permanent signing, would assist Harry Redknapp bring in some new faces before the end of the transfer window.
