Manchester United fans have voted their current side the best ever under Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Scot has helped guide the Red Devils to a plethora of trophies during his time at Old Trafford, moulding together some of the finest teams in English football history.
However, a poll of just under 17,000 Manchester United fans on facebook has seen the class of 2011/12 voted the best in the Ferguson era, suggesting expectations are dramatically high just weeks into the season.
The side beat off strong competition from the 1998/99 treble winning team, which polled 39% of the fans vote, just 2% less than the current squad containing Wayne Rooney, Ashley Young, Tom Cleverley, Rio Ferdinand and many more.
Third place, with 18% of the vote, was the Barclays Premier League and Champions League double winning side of 2007/08. Cristiano Ronaldo was the star of that particular show, helping a squad skippered by Ferdinand win the European prize in Moscow thanks to a penalty shoot-out win against Chelsea.
Beaten well back into fourth position was the United double winning side of 1993/94, with Eric Cantona, Steve Bruce and Peter Schmeichel gaining just 1% of the vote for their victories.
Just under 1% voted for other squads.
