Ben Turner has completed his switch from Coventry to Cardiff for an undisclosed fee.
The highly-rated centre-back is believed to have cost in the region of £750,000, although Bluebirds striker Jon Parkin, who was rumoured to be an addition to the deal, has not moved to the Ricoh Arena.
Reports suggest he was at the club's Ryton training ground but failed to agree personal terms and will now remain at Cardiff.
Turner has penned at three-year deal in the Welsh capital, ending the interest of Championship rivals Birmingham who had also been heavily linked with a move for his services.
The Birmingham-born 23-year-old, who graduated through Coventry's youth system, was the club's stand-out performer over the opening months of last season before having to undergo a knee ligament operation which has sidelined him ever since.
He is now close to making his long-awaited return after the serious injury but that will come in the blue of Cardiff after financially-stricken Coventry cashed in on their prized asset.
