Crawley fend off interest in stars

Crawley boss Steve Evans revealed the club turned down a number of bids for his players on transfer deadline day.

Striker Matt Tubbs was linked with Peterborough and Crystal Palace but stayed at the Broadfield Stadium while offers for other players were also fended off.

"I should have known better than to plan a day off on deadline day," said Evans.

"I received a number of offers from different managers. These were for several players and the offers were varied.

"On each occasion I discussed the details with my directors, and as a manager I was delighted to go back and turn each of them down.

"We had offers from the Championship and League One but none that were good enough for us to sell."
