Eljero Elia has confirmed interest from a host of Barclays Premier League clubs after completing a move from Hamburg to Juventus.

The Dutch international was heavily linked with a move to England last summer, but has revealed that a host of clubs were once again interested in his services, including Arsenal, Fulham, Everton and Wigan Athletic.

Newcastle United have also been confirmed as one of the clubs keen on the 24-year-old, who has also played for Den Haag and FC Twente in the Eredivisie.

Alan Pardew's interest in the player comes somewhat out of the blue, although the Magpies were known to be in he market for a number of players in attacking positions on deadline day.

"My agent did have contact with Arsenal, but it took too long. I had no contact with Arsene Wenger," the winger told www.onsoranje.nl.

"Wigan, Everton, Fulham and Newcastle had fairly concrete interest."

The Toon missed out on a handful of attackers in August, with Mevlut Erinc and Modibo Maiga both thought to be close to a St. James' Park switch at different stages of the month.

It was a deadline day to forget for Newcastle United though, with no players moving to Tyneside in a usually hectic final 24 hours for the club.

A late move for Bryan Ruiz appears to be the closest the club came to an addition, but Newcastle United lost out to league rivals Fulham.
