Mike Ashley and Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias have promised Alan Pardew that he will be given funds in the January transfer window to buy the striker the club failed to get this time around, according to the Northern Echo.
As deadline day came and went yesterday, Pardew was left frustrated after being unable to land a striker for the club’s number 9 shirt.
Newcastle were hoping to land Bryan Ruiz, and reportedly put a last-minute bid in for the striker, but Ruiz chose to move to Fulham instead.
And now Pardew is faced with Demba Ba as his main strike force, with Leon Best, Peter Lovenkrands, Shola Ameobi and Sammy Ameobi to back the signing up.
Newcastle fans will no doubt be disappointed with the situation, particularly after Pardew was so insistent that Andy Carroll’s space would be filled by the end of August.
Now Newcastle will look forward to setting some targets for the January window, according to the local paper, and will be hoping to shore up some deals as soon as the window opens.
