Reading's new signing Adam Le Fondre is promising to do the Royals' No.9 shirt justice by replicating the form of former custodians Kevin Doyle and Shane Long.
The 24-year-old signed from Rotherham for a reported £350,000 at the weekend after scoring 24 goals in 49 games for the Millers.
Goal shy Reading have hit the net just five times this season, while Le Fondre has already netted four goals this campaign and the forward has already pledged to continue his good form in the Npower Championship.
“I fear for the person who comes after me," he said.
“As long as I can get the chances I think I’ll score goals. The goal size doesn’t change when you come to the Championship, it’s just obviously about me getting chances and putting them away.
“I have to try to bring the record I had in League Two to the Championship and try to get us to the Premier League.”
Comparisons have already been drawn between himself and Jamie Cureton due to the pair's similar size, and Le Fondre is keen to make a similar impact.
“I’ve played against Cureton before when he was on loan at Shrewsbury,” he added.
“I’ve seen his goals. He’s a similar player to me, in and around the box and he’s sharp. It’s how I score goals and it’s the only way I know how to play, so I’m going to keep doing that.
"I’m probably a bit of a poacher, but this season I had been playing a bit deeper for Rotherham and I’ve supplied a bit more.
“I just want to keep improving as a player and keep scoring goals.
“With the wingers we’ve got I don’t see how I’m not going to score, it’s just down to me really.”
