Jamie Carragher was delighted to see his good friend Craig Bellamy return to Liverpool, and says the Welshman has unfinished business on Merseyside.
Bellamy signed on the dotted line minutes before Wednesday's transfer deadline, to end a somewhat tumultuous spell with Manchester City.
But the 31-year-old - who spent a season with Liverpool four years ago - now has an opportunity to show he still has something to offer in the top-flight, and cites Kenny Dalglish as a key reason behind his Anfield return.
And Carragher believes Liverpool have pulled off quite a transfer coup by securing the services of the former West Ham forward.
"It's a great signing," said the Liverpool defender. "I kept in contact with him when he first left. The longer it goes the less contact you keep with former players so it'll be great to see him again.
"As a kid he always said he was a Liverpool fan and I think he was quite disappointed with how it finished, with how he left.
"He'd have liked to have done a lot better and hopefully this gives him the chance to do that."
He added: "In the squad we've probably only got Stewart Downing as an out-and-out wide player.
"I think Craig prefers to play as a striker but he could certainly do that job for us."
