Everton deadline day loan signing Royston Drenthe has been tipped to follow in the footsteps of Steven Pienaar and become a success at Goodison Park.
The South African enjoyed four successful years with the club, one on loan from Borussia Dortmund, before leaving for Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer last summer.
Whilst Drenthe is more versatile and capable of playing at full back, the Dutch international is expected to be used as a midfielder by Everton boss David Moyes, and Spanish football expert Guillem Balague is confident the winger can shine.
“He has got a lot of talent and a lot of confidence in his ability. But he is a very emotional player who can be affected by either accolades or criticism in a bad way," said the Spaniard, who has seen Drenthe play in La Liga with Real Madrid.
"Everything needs to be channeled in the right way for him to focus on his football."
“He is fast, direct and exciting. And let’s face it he won’t be the first player to turn his career around at Everton either, he could be like Steven Pienaar in that respect.”
Drenthe will get his first chance to shine for the Toffees next weekend, when Everton face Aston Villa in the Barclays Premier League after the international weekend.
