Birmingham have confirmed striker Chris Wood has extended his loan deal with the club until October 2.

The New Zealand international scored his first goal for the Blues since joining from West Brom on a short-term deal in the 2-2 draw against Watford and manager Chris Hughton is delighted to have been able to extend Wood's deal.

"Chris is someone who has got better in the period of time he has been with us," Hughton told the club's official website.

"I'm delighted we've got Chris for a longer period and with the players who have been injured on the way back, we can get into a situation where we have competition for places up front, and that can only be good."
