World and European Champions Spain came from two goals behind to win a captivating friendly against Chile on Friday night.

Vincente del Bosque’s side appeared to be facing defeat in Switzerland, but the second-half introduction of midfielder Cesc Fabregas helped inspire a victory, sealed by the Barcelona star in injury-time with a rebound from his own saved penalty.

The former Arsenal star had watched from the bench as first Mauricio Isla and then Eduardo Vargas put the Chileans 2-0 up inside 20 minutes.

Barca players were making all the difference in the game, with another summer signing, Alexis Sanchez, pulling the strings in the first-half before Anders Iniesta’s introduction on 45 minutes.

He scored his nation’s first from distance, before a smart pass to Fabregas gave the midfielder a simple chance to level the scores.

Pablo Contreras saw red with eight minutes remaining for Chile, before Fabregas sealed an unlikely win when tapping into an empty net after Claudio Bravo pushed the spot-kick onto the post.
