Liverpool legend Alan Hansen believes The Reds’ new summer signings have helped them become one of the finest passing teams in the country.
The likes of Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson have been added to the club’s arsenal, and with Kenny Dalglish’s side unbeaten this season plenty are looking to the new recruits as the source of the club’s new found success.
And Hansen says the new signings; including defender Jose Enrique give the side a new dimension going forward.
"Charlie Adam is the obvious playmaker in midfield, but all of the other new boys can pass too,” he said.
"Stewart Downing has surprised me. I knew he was a good winger but I didn't realise how comfortable he was in possession. He makes the game look easy and that is the mark of a top player. He picks up great positions and retains the ball whether he's defending or attacking. It proves that when you get a player to the club, you never know quite how good someone is.
"Jose Enrique is the same. You'd think he's been playing for Liverpool for years. Then there's Jordan Henderson. It was great for him to get a goal. He rarely gives the ball away but you could tell that the goal gave him a lot of confidence. Again, like the others, he's very calm in the tightest of situations and keeps things ticking over."
