Scott Dann has insisted he is ready for an international call-up, after the defender sealed a switch back to the Barclays Premier League with Blackburn.
Dann moved to Rovers for £6 million on deadline day, and believes that he can now stake a claim on a position in the England squad.
And the 24-year-old is raring to get back into a routine of playing regular football, after enduring months of rumours and speculation over his future and a spell on the sidelines with injury at Birmingham.
“Obviously it’s an ambition of mine to play for England and hopefully I can do that in the future,” Dann said.
“Hopefully coming to a club like Blackburn can help me do that.
“I haven’t played much football lately because of all the things going on and all the speculation but I’m more determined than ever to play football.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been more determined. I`m just looking forward to it and I can`t wait to get going.
“Being injured is hard enough and then having to deal with being relegated, albeit I couldn’t really do much about that for the last couple of months being injured, you still feel part of it and it`s not a nice feeling.
“To finally get back to the Premier League has been massive for me and I’m grateful to the gaffer for showing faith in me.”
Dann will most likely feature for Rovers at the weekend, as the side take on Fulham at Craven Cottage.
And one of things he’s most looking forward to is partnering fellow sought after defender Chris Samba this season.
“Chris Samba is a great defender and he`s been brilliant for the club. I’m looking forward to playing alongside him,” Dann said.
“It’s good that he’s stayed here and no-one tried to sign him in the end.”
