Former Arsenal midfielder Havard Nordveit has revealed the Nicklas Bendnter didn’t enjoy his time with the Gunners because he couldn’t accept criticism over his ability.
Bendnter sealed a move to Sunderland on loan on deadline day, and has said on a few occasions since that he hopes to make the deal with the Black Cats permanent as soon as possible.
But Nordveit feels that Bendnter would have done better at Arsenal if he had been willing to take constructive criticism for his mistakes.
“You could not say much to him [about his game] because it doesn’t take much for him not to like you,” Nordtveit told Danish channel TV2 sport.
“He has his own way of doing things, but he could have made more of an effort in training when he was at Arsenal.
“It was disappointing for Bendtner to have so little time on the field in the last half year. But Arsene Wenger always wants to play with his best players and that’s what he did.”
Nordtveit, who spent three years at Arsenal but didn’t play a match for the side, now plays for Borussia Monchengladbach.
