Yossi Benayoun never had a medical examination at Arsenal, according to the Metro, with the North London club taking a gamble on the midfielder as they signed him on loan from Chelsea on deadline day.

Benayoun was set to exit Chelsea, and the one-year loan deal was decided on the last day of the transfer window for the Israel international.

And now reports claim that Benayoun made the move to Arsenal without going through the usual processes, as Arsene Wenger worked overtime to secure up to five deals before 11pm.

Benayoun looks to be fully fit, with the 31-year-old playing 90 minutes for Israel during the international break, but he missed most of last season with an Achilles injury, meaning Arsenal are taking a risk on their perceived replacement for Samir Nasri.

Chelsea’s medical department reportedly had discussions with Arsenal over the star’s fitness, but the actual medical never took place.
