Boss reveals Collins approach

Ipswich boss Paul Jewell has revealed he made an approach for Stoke defender Danny Collins this summer.

The 31-year-old has not been named in Tony Pulis' 25-man Premier League squad, with a loan move to Portman Road a reported possibility for the Welshman.

The loan window re-opens this week and Jewell told BBC Radio Suffolk: "It's not my remit to discuss other players. But he is a good player, we did enquire after him."

He added: "But, as I've said, we've made numerous enquiries with Premier League clubs.

"Teams want to name their 25 and then look at it again.

"Even then we can only have them for 92 or 93 days."
