Gorman backs Robinson for the top

MK Dons boss Karl Robinson is destined to manage at the highest level of club football, according to his assistant John Gorman.

The 30-year-old has been shortlisted for the League One manager of the month award following an impressive start which saw the Dons top the table at the end of August.

Robinson's progress has impressed his right-hand man and Gorman told the Milton Keynes Citizen: "With help from everybody, he can go a long way. But the most important thing is for him to do it here, rather than with someone else."

"He added: We really need to get up into the Championship. It's no good saying we're doing well at the moment because it doesn't mean anything.

"He can get excited at times but he also does listen and he's matured an awful lot this year.

"Karl has had a nice bit of publicity and rightly so. We're getting good publicity because the style of football deserves it. I'm proud to be a part of it."
