Arsenal will face a stern test in their pursuit of Barcelona youngster Gerard Deulofeu, after it emerged the Spain under-19 international has an admirer in Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.
According to Spanish publication AS, Abramovich took a liking to the Barca teenager having watched him in action for his country during the under-19 European Championships earlier this summer.
Also present at the tournament was Arsenal chief scout Steve Rowley, who is reported to have been impressed by the exploits of Deulofeu.
Barca, though, are likely to be reluctant to let the young attacker join Arsenal, especially after the Gunners somewhat controversially acquired Jon Toral from the Catalan giants earlier this year.
Arsenal did, however, partially repair their relationship with the European champions by allowing Cesc Fabregas to return to his hometown club in a cut-price deal.
"They did get him on the cheap," said Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood of the agreement. "But he wanted to go back there and we respected that."
