David Ngog is thankful for the opportunity Bolton have provided him to become an established first-team performer, having spent a significant spell in the shadow of Fernando Torres and Liverpool.
The French striker signed for the Trotters for £4 million on deadline day after three years on the peripheries at Anfield.
Ngog mustered 19 goals in 94 appearances during his Liverpool career, and concedes the goalscoring prowess of former Reds star Fernando Torres provided him with little chance of a staring berth.
However, the 22-year-old believes he is a better player having learnt from Torres when the Spaniard was in his Liverpool pomp.
"When you are at a club like Liverpool you have to accept it (being behind Torres),'' said Ngog.
"That made me stronger as well because you want to be close to the best and Fernando is one of the best.
"He is one of the best strikers in the world and when he was at Liverpool he was consistent in scoring a lot of goals.
"You learn about a lot from a player like this. It was a good experience and I will try to produce here and show what I am capable of.''
