Arsenal continued to be linked with a move for Barcelona starlet Gerard Deulofeu, just 24 hours after reports emerged claiming Chelsea were keeping tabs on the player.
The 17-year-old is being touted as the 'next Messi' at the Nou Camp, with the La Liga giants desperate to keep hold of their prized academy graduate.
However, Spanish rules preventing a player from signing professional forms until their 18th birthday has left the door open for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who has previous experience of taking top talent away from the Catalan club.
Cesc Fabregas joined the Gunners as a teenager in what would be a similar deal, whilst Jon Toral and Hector Bellerin are more recent acquisitions at Arsenal from the Barcelona production line.
The Daily Star reports that Arsenal would even be able to secure the teenager's services for as little as £3 million, although the move would represent an educated gamble from Wenger given the player's lack of senior experience.
The Frenchman has proved in the past that he's capable of getting the best out of young players at the Emirates though, and the Arsenal boss will be hoping he can persuade Deulofeu to follow in the footsteps of Fabregas after the Spaniard returned 'home' this summer.
