Rosler hails Lee heroics

Uwe Rosler admitted Richard Lee was one of the key reasons behind Brentford`s flying start to the season after the goalkeeper repelled Wycombe to claim a fifth League One triumph - a 1-0 victory.

Brentford dominated early on and made the breakthrough when Kevin O'Connor smashed home from the spot after James Tunnicliffe fouled Clayton Donaldson. Ben Strevens hit the post for the Chairboys and Andy Sandell fired in a wicked free-kick in the closing stages but Lee, who also saved from Scott Donnelly, was equal to it.

"Richard Lee is an excellent shot-stopper and a very good goalie for us and from distance it takes a lot to beat him," Rosler said. "I'm very pleased with the clean sheet and our overall performance, particularly in the first half."

He added: "Our back four defended excellently in the box and we were able to restrict them to long-range chances. We played in control, didn't give them any chances and scored the goal in the first half. In the second half we lost control.

"We got hold of the ball well in the first half, had some good chances, looked totally in control.

"We lost control too early in the second half. When we were attacking them we didn't finish the attack and when we lost the ball the distance between our midfield and defence was too big and they were able to establish themselves."

However, Wycombe manager Gary Waddock, whose side now sit just two places above the drop zone, claimed referee Keith Stroud was wrong to award the penalty.

"Do you want me to smile or laugh about it? I think the only person in the ground who saw the penalty was the one who gave it," he said.

"I've just seen it played back four or five times and it was an interesting decision.

"When the decision went against us and we were angry I thought you saw a different Wycombe side. We have to make sure that we're angry all of the time so that we get that type of performance."
