Arsenal's hopes of making a bid for Marvin Martin in the near future are set to take a major setback with the news that the midfielder is preparing to sign a new deal with Socheaux until 2015, according to France Football.
The player's current deal runs out in 2014, but the Ligue 1 side are keen to reward the 23-year-old for some outstanding performances in recent months.
Martin is on the verge of usurping Nasri from the international fold, and he was seen by Arsenal as a direct replacement for their departed playmaker.
However, Martin, who has over 100 appearances for Sochaux is ready to sign a new deal, which may send Arsenal back to the drawing board.
Despite Martin pledging his future, another Arsenal target Yann M'Vila, revealed last week he was ready to leave his club Rennes.
