Luis Suarez insists it did not take much persuasion to ensure international teammate Sebastian Coates joined him at Liverpool.
The 20-year-old Uruguayan defender signed for the Reds shortly before the transfer deadline, following Suarez's January move to Anfield from Dutch giants Ajax.
Coates comes to Merseyside with quite a pedigree, having been named Young Player of the Tournament during Uruguay's successful Copa America campaign earlier in the summer.
And, says Suarez, Coates was already well subscribed to the history and tradition of Liverpool, and joins a club where he can thrive and develop.
"The things I told him were about stuff about behind the scenes at the club - he already knew about everything else," Suarez told the official Liverpool website.
"Liverpool is one of the biggest and best clubs in Europe, and he knows that well enough himself."
He added: "He is coming to a team where he can really develop as an individual.
"He is still very young and has a lot to learn, but there are some highly-experienced players here who can help him a lot with that.
"He is aware of that and he is happy to learn and help the team as much as he can."
